Soyhières ****

Here is an escape for the Basel climbers who are burned out from the endless crimps. The gargantuan overhang of Soyhieres lets you use those biceps, but even here you won’t get off the ground without some finger strength. Philippe Steulet gave us “Deja” (8b+, 1989) and “Mines de Rien” (8b+, 1989) which still stand tall as the finest and most important test pieces in all of Jura. The casual and sunny area is made to order for Sunday family outings. Soyhieres is often sunny while Delemont is deep down under the fog inversion. The one draw back is that many routes are often wet.
