Gornerfluh – Riffelhorn ****

For those who write the Gornerfluh off as merely a preparatory climb for bigger ones, just don’t get it...it is plenty worthy in its own right. These routes are on the most beautiful red Zermatt Gneiss imaginable and are in a setting that can’t be beat. Since the retrofitting efforts by Kurt Lauber and friends, more than 300 new bolts and many chained anchors have been newly placed in 2017. Just as spectacular are the great routes on the Riffelhorn. In the last few years, Martin Lehner has been busy rebolting old and putting up new routes. Both areas require caution on the approach as well as a thick wallet!
