Sasso del Drago ****
Once upon a time, long long ago, a dragon raged through the Bergell spreading fear and terror. It would hide in the narrowest part of the valley between the villages of Villa und Santa Croce and would gobble up everything that came near it. One day, one of the bravest souls from a neighboring village would outsmart it. He filled his carts with salt bags and proceeded up the canyon. As the Dragon saw him, it opened its jaws and devoured everything in the cart. Suddenly, it became overwhelmingly thirsty and rushed to the river and drank and so much so from the River Mera that it fell over and burst apart. To this day, you can see the outline of its remains in the rock wall where it fell over. Hence, the name of the crag, “Sasso del Drago” (Dragon Rock).
