Ruchstock ****

Rarely have I been so pleasantly surprised about an area like I was about the routes on the Ruchstock. With perfect rock quality and consistent difficulties, I was soon a true believer! The routes are characterized into two divisive sections. The lower part has a seemingly infinite number of unique climber friendly chicken heads and slots formed by ages of water run off. The upper part offers bullet hard alpine limestone of the highest quality. The broken up section in the middle of the wall is the only thing denying these routes 5 stars. The approach from the top of the lift is very long, therefore, it is recommended to overnight in the Rugghubel Hut.
