Niderhorn – Buufal – Meniggrund ****
The absolute highlight of the Niderhorn is the graceful Schmetterlingspfeiler (Butterfly Pillar). It has perfect limestone and challenging routes. Just next to it are short routes to satisfy just about everybody’s taste. The nicely situated sectors “Luegle” and “Oberes Buufal” are perfect for family outings. The dominating time honored “Buufal” is vertical and technically demanding climbing in dreamy finger pockets. On the Meniggrundpfeiler, the dizzying line “Thuner-Weg” soars up dihedrals and cracks into the heights. For those finding this a bit beyond their goals and aspirations, a very pleasant picnic area complete with fireplace right next to the parking lot offers a nice alternative!
