Mont Charvatton ****

In Hone, near the striking fortress of Bard, the road climbs westward through lovely vineyards into the wild Valle di Champorcher. Below, the torrent rages. High up, lie the many small hamlets. After Pontboset, the big rock buttress of the Mont Charvatton will come into view: wonderfully featured corners, water runnels, and roofs. Three routes have been done on the wall, the best of which is “Tommy”. 14 fun pitches of coarse grippy rock featured with holes, pockets, quartz bands, cracks and one short third class section. Cherish the peace and quiet, as the noisy autobahn traffic racing through the Aosta Valley is far away.
