Starkenbach ****

The almost perfect crag! Steep face climbing on grippy rock, many routes in the moderate grades, and casual access all add up to making Starkenbach a weekend magnet. The few downsides may be the lightly greasy overused routes, noise pollution from the nearby freeway, and the constant exposure to rockfall from the upper walls. Wear your helmet! It benefits from a southern exposure, so climbing is possible the whole year. The “Dornröschen” sector sits partially in the shade in the woods. The wall dries quickly after rain showers.
