Sagnette ****

Pre de Madame Carle is the starting point for mountain climbers, hikers, and rock climbers alike. Alpinists loaded down with heavy packs head up toward the Ecrins Hut. Families hunt for the best picnic spots along the stream bed, and rock climbers casually cross the moraine to the foot of the Sagnette. Squeezed in between the Blanc Glacier and the Noir Glacier, the Grand Sagne with the reddish wall of the Sagnette soars into the heights. These 500m long routes defined by awesome rock quality, diverse climbing, an unbeatable alpine ambience, and good protection are simply not to be missed. It is smart to start early as the sun leaves the face already at 1400 (2pm).
