Gross Schijen – Lutersee *****
The South Arete of the Gross Schijen is the big tick classic of the area. Wonderful, steep climbing on grippy granite is typical for the “Direkten”. If you prefer a more casual climb, choose the “Alte Südkante”. The traverse of the “Chly Schijen” is a nice easy entry level climb. Here, you can easily practice your gear placement skills. And don’t forget to check out the fantastic routes on the “Goldküste” as well as the fun crag with fabulous rock on Lutersee. And finally, the Diavolo Via Ferrata. Despite the devilish name, it is easy and well protected. Climbing on the Gross Schijen on warm winter days is marvelous, and with the ski lift to shorten the approach can be an ideal choice. The Luterseeplatten (slabs) usually remain under the snow pack until July.
