The unique limestone needles above Rosenlaui are like magic and are the stuff of climber’s dreams. Powerful, yet almost a little scary, the Ochsental is breathtaking. Afterall, you are now among the giants, the arena of the Engelhörner. So many ways to climb these spires. Depending on exposure, the rock may be slabby or coarse. The protection varies from route to route. A climbing adventure is guaranteed without a doubt!

A new pay station blocks the entrance to Rosenlaui and charges a fee of 8 CHF/day. But only those who park their car in Rosenlaui have to pay this fee (if you look closely, it is a parking fee)! If you drive up to Rychenbachalp to shorten the way to Engelhornhütte, you have to pay NOTHING, but only the tax of 15 CHF for the road and parking lot of Alp Rychenbach. The cab is available either at the Alp Rychenbach, at the junction at the bridge at the Alp Gschwantenmad or at the Rest./Hotel Kaltenbrunnen.

21 bolts were added in the route "Retour" at Klein Engelhorn. Thus, the protection can now be classified one level better than "so..so". Nevertheless, long distances between bolts must be overcome in part and especially the upper pitches must be additionally secured with cams.
