The trourist village of Ailefroide has long been a popular rock climbing destination. No question, it is a Plasir Paradise! Combining the towering granite walls with family friendly campgrounds all adds up to an ideal base camp setup for a multi day visit. Other accommodation and shopping options are also readily available and as the name implies, the area is pleasantly cool. In the fall, not much sun reaches the narrow valley’s floor. If the weather is too uncertain for the long routes, you will find many beautiful pitches on the crags or you can try your luck on the numerous boulders. All well within reach on foot from the campground. Furthermore, mountain biking and hiking trails are fantastic. And of course, there are the alpine climbs on the Barre des Ecrins and Mont Pelvoux.
