Schlossberg ***

The first complete ascent of this impressive Southwest Face of the Schlossberg was at the time (1971) an incomparable alpine accomplishment. These days the route is hardly ever done. Compared to a modern equipped route, climbers today shudder to contemplate such a bold and ill equipped long route. The routes in the compact wall follow mostly crack systems. The Gendarme has more featured rock and here is a great place for trad climbers to test their mettle or bold sport climbers to test their skills on the beautiful route “Rittergold”.
