Gimmelwald *****
Without a doubt, Gimmelwald remains one of the best sport climbing areas
in Switzerland. It is like a huge wave of perfect limestone catering to the high end climbing practitioners. The magnificent backdrop and isolation make this crag uniquely special. Good sending conditions prevail from April (still wet due to meltwater, depending on snow conditions) to mid-November. The wall is in the shade from 1pm and a bit later in the Fall. The rock can be a bit dusty and slick in the “Zivilschutz” sector, where it is often wet in the Spring anyway.
