Following the tracks of dinosaurs! They can be found on the approach slabs. Nowadays, however, you don’t have to fear a faceoff with a T. Rex or a Brontasaurus. More dangerous are the ticks and mites, which are more abundant due to the mild winters. Be sure to use insect repellant and sit on your pack and not directly on the ground. The beautiful traverse is very popular. The actual climbing sections are short and can be avoided by climbing around them. The South Face is also a popular winter objective with its challenging routes on very nice rock. Take a headlight: the descent through the steep woods can be tricky at night. The South Face is also exposed to rockfall. Avoid it when the weekend hordes pilgrimage over the “Grande Arete”!
