The Trotzigplanggstock south ridge is fantastic granite arete climbing with wraparound views. Also recently retrofitted and recommended for the hard core is the Trotzig-Wichelplanggstock Traverse. This alpine route is not to be underestimated. Though the second half is shorter in length than the first part of the traverse, it is more technical and eats up more time both for the leader and follower (down climbing). If something shorter and more casual is more to your liking, various sectors are right next to the hut, some of which are great for beginners and the kids.

From the end of April 2026, the Sustli Hut SAC will be completely closed to overnight guests due to renovation work. No shelter will be available during the construction work. For day visitors, the hut team will offer a small, simple outdoor service from the beginning of June to around mid-October 2026 (Monday to Friday / weekends when the weather is good). The hut is scheduled to reopen for the 2027 ski touring season. Source: SAC
