You can shorten the approach hike to the hut first by riding the Furgstalden chairlift and later by stopping in at the Almagelleralp. Once you arrive at the hut you are rewarded with views of 12 peaks over 4000m and the best rock imaginable! In the event you may need a rest day for your battered fingers, climbing the Wiessmies is highly recommended and one of the easier 4000ers. A favored alpine classic is the traverse from the Almageller Hut to Hohsass.

Jürg Martig has rebolted the routes Nr. 2-7 in the Dri Horlini climbing garden together with the JO Niesen. These routes are now equipped again with new bolts and belays.
